All participants will receive funding to lead a reconciliation project in their community!
Applications are now open for the virtual Youth Leadership Forum on Reconciliation, bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth (aged 14-25) from across the country to develop reconciliation projects that they can lead in their own communities.
The event will take place October 13th-17th – with three of those days being evenings only (5 pm-8 pm ET), followed by two full days of programming planned to take place over the weekend. As well as hearing from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and youth leaders about some of the inspiring work that is happening right now to effect change, participants will work in small groups to refine their own project that addresses reconciliation as a priority and/or answer a Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
During the forum, participants will be led through all the possible challenges that may arise when implementing a project. Topics covered include marketing and promotion; finding partners and funding; getting support from schools or organization, and more. The goal of the week will be for participants to leave the forum ready to implement a project that they feel pride in shaping and have the confidence and funding to lead in their own community. Ongoing support will be provided from Experiences Canada and volunteer mentors.
