Portaging through research (Bilingual Event)
Community-Based Research Canada (CBRC)Community-Based Research Canada (CBRC) is hosting a bilingual event called ‘Portaging through Research with an Indigenous Youth Advisory Council’!
This conversation will highlight the journey of an Indigenous youth advisory committee in the context of the Quebec Youth Research Network Chair: Indigenous Stream. Over the past 5 years, we have created spaces for youth to express and explore their expertise and agency. As experts of their own realities, they share how their individual and collective journeys unfold and generate meaning-making through the creation of a visual. We discuss the significance of voice, space, audience, and influence in the context of working with youth, organizations, and researchers. These spaces have generated novel understandings of research as relational and transformational opportunities. Much like a portage, community-based research is cyclical, relational, a place where everyone seeks their roles and responsibilities.
This event will have English and French speakers with translation available.
