This factsheet was created by Inuit Tuttarvingat of the National Aboriginal Health Organization.

HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS FACTSHEET:

In collaboration with regional and national Inuit organizations, an advisory group was formed in 2008, to discuss research ethics protocols and develop informative materials on research ethics. This committee is named Inuit Nipingit – National Inuit Committee on Ethics and Research.

This factsheet describes how earlier discussions about participation in research have led to the use of various guidelines and rules for researchers to follow. It also discusses the rights that research participants have and the questions they might want to ask before getting involved.
