Dr. Uzo Anucha

An Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at York University, Uzo conceptualizes her community-engaged research as a community dialogue that is centered on equitable collaborations with community stakeholders during all phases of the research process. Her research projects emphasize multi-methods / multi-focal research to make space for multiple perspectives.

Uzo’s intellectual leadership of three large, externally-funded initiatives over her academic career – Social Work in Nigeria; Assets Coming Together for Youth; and Youth Research and Evaluation eXchange (YouthREX) – has provided her with excellent opportunities to learn and understand how to collaborate equitably with a broad, multi-sectoral alliance of stakeholders in tackling complex issues of equity and access, locally and globally. Over the last decade, Uzo’s research agenda has focused on critical youth work.
