Impacts of Strong Parental Support for Trans Youth

The aim of this report is to provide preliminary data on the health impacts of parental support for trans (transgender or transsexual) youth aged 16 to 24 in Ontario. Given the lack of information on impacts of parental support for trans youth, we assessed the degree to which parental support for trans youth’s gender identity and expression had an impact on overall satisfaction with life, self-assessed physical and mental health, self-esteem, depression, and suicidality. We report on these results.
