AMANI is recruiting Black youth across Ontario for the 2025–26 term of the Black Youth Advisory Panel (BYAP)—a paid leadership opportunity for young people interested in mental health, substance use, and systems change.
Established in 2022, BYAP is a group of up to 20 Black youth, aged 12–29, who meet monthly to guide AMANI’s work and help shape programs and services for Black youth across the province. Panel members are compensated at $30/hour for their time and contributions, and have access to personal and professional development opportunities.
BYAP members contribute to:

Social media and outreach campaigns

Workshop development and facilitation

Youth consultations and focus groups

Community-based advocacy
Eligibility:
-
Identify as African, Caribbean, or Black
-
Aged 12–29 and living in Ontario
-
Have lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges and are interested in how those services work for Black youth
-
Able to commit to one 2-hour meeting per month for at least one year
