Community Music Schools of TorontoCanadian Music Society and Theatre (CMST) is currently seeking a Board Chair. The Chair is responsible for leading the Board to set direction and strategy, ensuring high governance standards, sustainability, and acting as an ambassador for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the Board’s governance, strategy, and policy development.
- Oversee financial management, including budgeting, audits, and risk oversight.
- Support fundraising efforts and foster donor relationships.
- Act as an ambassador for CMST in the community.
- Ensure board members are engaged and committees function effectively.
Qualifications:
- Leadership experience in business, government, or nonprofit sectors.
- Financial expertise and understanding of board governance.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- Familiarity with arts, music, or education sectors is an asset.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Term & Commitment:
- Three-year term, renewable for one additional term.
- Board meetings are held quarterly.
- Occasional on-site attendance and participation in events, sometimes during evenings or weekends, is required.
This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position with flexible hours. A vulnerable sector police check is required.
