Funding Opportunity for Ontario Black Youth-Led Initiatives
Laidlaw FoundationThe Black Youth Fund is now accepting applications from Black youth-led groups across Ontario for projects that support Black youth leadership, community engagement, and social change.
The fund provides up to $100,000 for one-time projects led by Black youth (ages 35 and under). A total of $1 million will be distributed, with funding awarded to 10 initiatives. Eligible applicants include charities, nonprofits, and grassroots groups based in Ontario.
Projects may focus on a range of issue areas, including:
- Identity-building
- Community organizing
- Legal rights
- Environmental racism
- Self-care and collective care
- Life skills building
- STEM and technology
- Sports and community building
- Economic development
- Mentorship
The fund prioritizes initiatives that amplify the voices of Black youth, support Black-led solutions, and are informed by the lived experiences of Black communities. Special consideration is given to Black Queer and Trans youth-led initiatives.
Funding can support project costs such as youth salaries, honoraria, stipends, transportation, food, childcare, accessibility supports, project materials, and technology.
