EVA’S YOUTH BELONG

YOUth Belong is an inter-dependent living program for Black youth age 16-24 experiencing homelessness or precarious living.

YOUth Belong utilizes an Afrocentric model that centres the identity and intersectionality of Black youth, while housing young people in community-based, inter-dependent scattered housing and Eva’s managed properties across the city. The mandate of the YOUth Belong program is to provide Black youth experiencing homelessness or precarious living with the life skills and capacity to effectively navigate the systems that they will connect with daily, while rooting them in their communities and multi-faceted identities.

We are accepting applications and do currently have bursaries available to subsidize rent in the city of Toronto.

The expectations while in our program are as follows :

    • Meet bi-weekly with case managers to complete goal setting and follow up on goal setting
    • Attend Rights Of Passage program bi weekly over the course of 8-12 weeks
    • Buy and cook their own food
    • Contribute to maintaining common spaces, including kitchens and lounge
    • Maintain personal hygiene and laundry and the general health & safety of their own room
    • Wake up for school/work/appointments on own
    • Maintain appropriate behaviour/boundaries in the house and follow program guidelines for respect and anti-racist/anti-oppressive/gender-affirming behaviour
    • Schedule and commit to attending their appointments
    • Participate in house programming where possible
    • Some folks attend external programming, some folks attend school/work, but it is an expectation that folks will be active and not stay home all the time
    • Participate and contribute to shared living with the other participants
    • Manage positive personal relationships within the house

We are not a 24 hour service . If you think your young person requires 24 hour support , we would not recommend this program .

If you have any further questions we could set up a call if you would find that helpful , please feel free to share with other service providers
