Workshop Invitation: Finding Your Path – Identify Personal Strengths to Advocate for Gender Justice

Free Periods Canada

“Finding Your Path: Identify Personal Strengths to Advocate For Gender Justice” is a workshop crafted to empower advocates at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Our focus is on helping participants discover and harness their skills and resources for effective gender justice advocacy. In the context of our workshop, “gender justice advocacy” encompasses issues affecting women, trans, and nonbinary individuals, including those related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate, the economy, and more.

The event will begin with a keynote address; speaker to be confirmed. Participants will then complete an asset mapping exercise, where they will identify their qualities, values, skills, and connections that can contribute to their advocacy efforts. This process aims to instill confidence and establish a foundation for leveraging personal strengths in the pursuit of gender justice.

After the asset mapping activity, participants will explore actionable steps and potential avenues for advocacy work. Following the workshop, each participant will receive a comprehensive resource guide, serving as a valuable companion as they embark on their advocacy journeys.

What to Expect:

Our workshops will feature small groups of 8-20 individuals actively participating, listening to two-to-three speakers. Active participation means the workshop participants will ask questions and share their ideas. As one of our goals is to foster connections through these workshops, we encourage participants to choose an environment where they can have their cameras on and limit distractions.

Workshop Objectives:

• Gain clarity and build confidence around one’s values, skills, social location, resources, and connections

• Connect with like-minded gender justice advocates

• Discover opportunities for action

• Learn how to leverage one’s capacities for effective participation in gender justice advocacy
