HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS FACTSHEET:
In collaboration with regional and national Inuit organizations, an advisory group was formed in 2008, to discuss research ethics protocols and develop informative materials on research ethics. This committee is named Inuit Nipingit – National Inuit Committee on Ethics and Research.
This factsheet explains why we need health research. It notes that health researchers need to be clear to participants and communities about:
- expected health and other benefits;
- possible risks; and
- whether there are any financial benefits to participating in the research.
