This factsheet was created by Inuit Tuttarvingat of the National Aboriginal Health Organization.

HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS FACTSHEET:

In collaboration with regional and national Inuit organizations, an advisory group was formed in 2008, to discuss research ethics protocols and develop informative materials on research ethics. This committee is named Inuit Nipingit – National Inuit Committee on Ethics and Research.

This factsheet talks about how informed and respectful research includes communication with participants and communities before, during, and after the research process. It describes good researcher-community relationships, notes the importance of making the expectations of both parties clear, and gives examples of engaging communities in interpreting and sharing the results.
