This toolkit was created by Family Services Ottawa in collaboration with Ottawa communities. The purpose of his toolkit is to aid educators and service providers in understanding and creating supports and strategies for LGBTQ families. This is especially important as the face of families is changing; families no longer simply include biological relatives; families are also formed with people (non-biological) who nurture and support us. These relationships are especially important to those in minority groups, such as those who identify as LGBTQ. This toolkit breaks down the LGBTQ terminology, symbols, myths, and stereotypes, and addresses problems, tensions, and points of interest in communities and schools.
