Method Mini-Toolkit – Focus Group Interviews: An Overview
2 weeks ago 2 weeks agoThis toolkit was developed by the Knowledge Institute on Child and Youth Mental Health and Addictions (formerly the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health).
HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS TOOLKIT:
A focus group is a type of interview that involves a number of participants and a facilitator who asks questions and guides the conversation. It involves bringing a small group of people together to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences related to a particular subject. The participants are typically a group of people who share some common experience or characteristic (e.g., parents of youth, people who work in a particular type of job).
This mini-toolkit provides an overview of focus group interviews as a data collection method, strengths and limitations, and supports for conducting focus groups and analyzing data.
