Youth and Substance Use: Engaging and Supporting Through Reflective Practice
6 years ago 6 years agoThis webinar was hosted by YouthREX.
HERE’S HOW THE HOSTS DESCRIBE THIS WEBINAR:
How can we apply reflective practice to our work with youth who are challenged by substance use? How can a person-centred, strengths-based, and harm reduction approach support purposeful interventions that lead to healing and recovery?
Presented by The ReDesign Group, this reflective practice webinar provided a framework for participants to generate and foster advancements in emerging best practices. The value of research into risk and protective factors for youth substance use and the need for improved evaluation practices for substance use programs was highlighted. Areas of focus included:
- Assessing our strengths and capacities.
- Acknowledging our challenges and weaknesses.
- Taking corrective action to increase our knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Using reflection to critically examine why things are the way they are, and accept that they may not promise change.
