HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS FACTSHEET:
In a keynote presentation at YouthREX’s 2016 Knowledge to Action (KtA) Exchange, Dr. Sean Lessard shared how movement, story, and place can “animate” young lives when adults create relational, youth-led spaces, both in and beyond schools.
Sean locates his work in Cree territories and uses the Red Worn Runners – a daily community running practice by Indigenous youth and adults, symbolizing healing, connection to land, and learning through movement – as a metaphor. He illustrates how everyday experiences can become a “living curriculum” that fosters identity, belonging, and community connection.
This Factsheet outlines five key takeaways from Sean’s keynote.
