HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS REPORT:
Indigenous Youth Voices (IYV) is led by Indigenous youth for Indigenous youth. IYV originally came together to formulate a report and recommendations on the implementation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 66.
The network consists of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis youth aged 30 and under. We invited Indigenous youth, youth councils, groups, and organizations to unite and work together with the common goal of having our voices heard. Our focus was not on drawing attention to any one particular youth issue, but on connecting existing visions and amplifying the perspectives and priorities that they represent and include them in a roadmap.
To best inform our work we also sought out Indigenous youth literature in the form of reports, strategies or any published information. We heard from over 500 Indigenous youth through our survey. We visited communities and youth groups across the country and we invited young leaders to meet with us to share their concerns, truths, and solutions for their communities, peers, and well-being.
We are proud to finally release the Roadmap on the Implementation of TRC Call to Action 66!
We hope Indigenous youth can rally behind this Roadmap so that TRC Call to Action 66 can be put into action.
