HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS REPORT:
Racism and discrimination can have a profound impact on students’ sense of safety, wellbeing, and belonging in Manitoba schools. The K-12 Anti-Islamophobia Action Plan supports our commitment to creating learning environments where every student feels welcomed and supported. This plan offers schools and school divisions practical tools and strategies to promote inclusion, strengthen belonging, and celebrate diversity across our classrooms.
The action plan focuses on creating welcoming and respectful school environments through four areas of action:
- Recognize and Celebrate, by highlighting Muslim identities and histories in school culture and acknowledging important observances;
- Equip and Empower, by offering educators supportive resources and learning opportunities to foster inclusion;
- Wellbeing and Belonging, by promoting culturally responsive supports and spaces where students feel valued; and
- Partnerships, by building strong, collaborative relationships between schools and Muslim communities to reflect diverse perspectives.
