Connex Newcomer Youth Program: Final Evaluation Report

HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS REPORT:
The Connex Newcomer Youth Program was a school-based program that connected newcomer youth in the York Region District School Board (YRDSB) to a supportive community within their school by engaging them in various activities both in and outside the school. The program aimed to decrease feelings of isolation, disengagement, and anxiety, often felt by newcomer youth, and increase feelings of connectedness, belonging, and engagement through weekly sessions held either in-person, online or through a hybrid mode. Connex distinguishes itself from other newcomer youth programs by applying a customized and participant-led approach to content design and execution in recognition that every student is unique.
The YRDSB partnered with Youth Research and Evaluation eXchange (YouthREX) to conduct an evaluation of this second offering of the Connex Program. This report highlights the findings from that evaluation.
