Best Practices Checklist: For Healthcare Providers Working with Young People Who (May or May Not) Use Drugs

This toolkit was developed by Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP).

HERE’S HOW THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THIS REPORT:

CSSDP created this resource for healthcare providers in collaboration with the Canadian Substance Use Resource and Knowledge Exchange Centre and Canadian Public Health Association.

This checklist for people working in healthcare can support assessing how equipped they are to support young people who (may or may not) use substances. Something it seems is often overlooked, but that we think is VERY important. This checklist reflects what came up in the focus groups we hosted both with our peers and with people working in healthcare, recognizing that sometimes our friends and peers are met with stigma in healthcare settings and systems. Is there anything we missed? Let us know!
