We begin by unpacking the foundations of anti-Black racism through a historical lens, noting that these systems continue to operate and have lasting impacts on Black folks today. This episode also challenges us to confront our unconscious biases through self-reflection and critical reflexivity. We are encouraged to approach this necessary work with grace, humility, and a willingness to learn. We discuss the importance of “calling people in” – creating space for education and conversation rather than shame or exclusion – and explore what true equity and sustainable inclusion look like in practice.
