Partnerships provide YouthREX with excellent opportunities to share resources, capacity, and knowledge that can build synergy and amplify our vision.

2017 - Present

Strides Toronto

Strides is Ontario’s lead agency for the Provincial Youth Outreach Worker program, as well as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Children’s Mental Health and System Transformation. Our partnership projects have primarily focused on supporting Youth Outreach Workers across Ontario.

2019 - 2024

Delta Family
Resource Centre
 

Delta has been providing community programs and services for over 35 years in Northwest Toronto. YouthREX is partnering with Delta to develop and evaluate Ounce of Prevention (OZ)/Pempamsie, a program for Black youth in contact with the justice system.

2019 - 2024

Transforming the Field Education Landscape

This project is focused on integrating research and practice in the preparation of the next generation of social workers by developing partnered research training initiatives, both within academia and across the public and not-for-profit sectors, that enhance student research practice knowledge and applied skill development.

2020 - Present

Cannabis & Psychosis: Exploring the Link, Schizophrenia Society of Canada

YouthREX partnered with Exploring the Link to develop Cannabis and Mental Health, a comprehensive suite of online resources developed by youth, for youth, to support young people in understanding the risks and benefits of cannabis use for mental health and wellness. These resources include a Mentor Guide for youth workers, program leaders, educators, mentors, parents, and youth allies.

2020 - Present

National Institute for Cannabis Health and Education (NICHE), Canopy Growth & Strides Toronto

In partnership with Strides, YouthREX led the redevelopment of the What’s With Weed website and associated tools and resources in English and French, through a grant from Canopy Growth: What’s With Weed and L'herbe, c'est quoi? 

2020-2021

Black Economic Empowerment Project

YouthREX partnered with Dream Legacy Foundation and Network for the Advancement of Black Communities to develop an evidence-informed outcomes framework that would support programs funded by the Black Youth Action Plan to advance the economic empowerment of Black youth.

2021

School Mental Health Ontario

YouthREX partnered with School Mental Health Ontario to provide a customized offering of Centering Black Youth Wellbeing: A Certificate for Combatting Anti-Black Racism to their stakeholders. They supported the development of a French-language version of the certificate and translated several related resources, which has enabled us to offer the certificate to the public in both English and French.

2019 - 2021

York Region
District School Board

Our partnership included the development and evaluation of the Connex Youth Mentorship Project, which connects newcomer youth to resources and peer mentors within the York Region District School Board (YRDSB).

Oshkimadizijik inéwin: Youth Voices on Reconciliation

YouthREX partnered with Dr. Joey-Lynn Wabie, our Academic Director of Indigenous Initiatives, on a research project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada to amplify the voices of Indigenous youth (ages 16-29) and their perspectives on reconciliation.

YouthREX partnered with Indigenous Youth Voices –  an initiative led by Indigenous youth for Indigenous youth – to develop A Roadmap to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Call to Action #66.

The Youth
in Politics Project

YouthREX partnered with Academic Network member Dr. Nombuso Dlamini on the Youth in Politics (#YiP) project, an innovative experiential learning project aimed at increasing the civic engagement of high school students using the school board elections in October 2018 as a case study.

2019

Office of Public
Affairs of the Baha’i Community of Canada

Together, we facilitated and strengthened a community of discourse and practice relating to the role of young people in society, and created space for a conversation in the youth sector about the nature and process of youth empowerment.
